The Gillespie +
Powers, Inc. Decoating process will pre-heat the scrap. If the
melting furnace is close-coupled to the Decoating Systems then full
use will be made of this free energy, reducing fuel consumption and
increasing melt rate. The usage of salts and flux’s are greatly
reduced helping to minimize processing costs. There will also be
less salt cake and hence lower disposal costs to landfill/treatment.
Metal recovery rates will also be improved as we are now charging
clean material to the melt furnace. With the use of an
afterburner and cyclone system the fugitive emissions are
nearly reduced all together. This alone can pay for the Decoating
System in a relatively short time.
