TILTING HOLDING FURNACE REPLACEMENT:
We are actively engaged in the design and fabrication phase of a project for the replacement of a large tilting holding furnace for a client in Kentucky. The project calls for replacement of their existing 180,000 pound
holding capacity furnace with a new expanded capacity of 260,000 pounds. This holding furnace change out will be completed in a compressed 23 day construction schedule that will involve removing the old and installing the new. This will entail considerable off site advanced component erection to achieve the very tight schedule.
COMBUSTOR REDESIGN:
After several years of being plagued with numerous casing cracks and failures on a process gas combustor, a Midwest chemical operations engaged the services of Gillespie
+ Powers, Inc. to investigate the cause of the failures and recommended course of action. We were then engaged to redesign and install a new refractory system to address the unique combustion requirements and solve the continued problems of casing deterioration. The new steel combustor and refractory lining was completed and started in April 2000. Our December
18th communications with the Project Manager has indicated that the unit continues to operate very successfully with no signs of early deterioration that had plagued them since the original installation. Recent outside thermal scans are similar to those recorded following start-up.
