One such device is the Gillespie + Powers' Puddling device, which is a uniquely designed piece of hardware that gently agitates the top surface of the Side Well Melter to enhance submerging and to adequately mix the dross with added salt fluxes to provide for proper segregation.

This gentle continuous agitation provides for the segregation of coalesced droplets and yields drier dross of considerably lower metal content.
